Dear Friends,

As we approach Rosh Hashana, we would like to take the opportunity to reflect on the past year and look forward to what is to come.

The past year gave us a lot to celebrate, including the opening of our new office in San Francisco, executive visits of Amazon, Cognizant, Technicolor, and Intuit in Israel, and immensely successful delegations of Israeli companies to California in cyber-security, life sciences, gaming, automotive, cleantech, and new media.

Looking forward to the New Year, we are excited to continue to strengthen the ties between the Israeli and West Coast business communities. Please see below for a summary of our upcoming engagements. We hope that you’ll join us, either here or abroad!

Wishing you all a sweet and happy New Year.

Shana Tova!

California Drought Brings Opportunities for Israeli Water Tech

As the drought in California continues, water prices soar for farmers. Farmers are paying as much as 10 times more for water than they did before the drought cut supply. According to a Bloomberg article, costs have soared to $1,100 per acre-foot from about $140 a year ago in the Fresno-based Westlands Water District, which represents 700 farms. North of Sacramento, the Western Canal Water District is selling it for double the usual price: $500 per acre-foot, about 326,000 gallons (1.2 million liters).

The ongoing drought in California has threatened the US agricultural industry as California is a major fruit, vegetable, and nut producer. The drought has brought water issues to the forefront, and Israeli innovation in water technology can provide solutions for more efficient water usage on the farm and in homes. This is a great opportunity for Israeli water technology to expand to the US and to help alleviate drought conditions in California.
