OECD and UN Recognize Israel as World Leader in Water for Agriculture
The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations recently published the “OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook 2012-2021” Report. The report highlights Israel’s efficiency in agricultural water use, calling Israel a “world leader in the management and technologies related to irrigation in arid environments”. The report credited the invention of drip irrigation in Israel as the key innovation behind the country’s achievements in water efficiency.
