Israel’s NRGene and Monsanto team up for genomic analysis

NRGene is a 7-tear-old Israeli start up specializing in genomic analysis of plants and foods, including bread, pasta and wheat.

Monsanto is a global Ag giant with revenues over $15B annually.

Earlier this month, the two entities signed a cooperation agreement where Monsanto will license NRGene’s GenoMAGIC software to help “enhance Monsanto’s ability to predict, compare and select the best genetic makeup from its vast data sets of genetic, genomic and trait information,” a company’s spokesperson said.

The deal also involved participation by Illumina, a developer of genomic research.

Talks of a long-term deal between the three are taking place concurrently.
